Afromed.life is KwaZulu-Natal's integrated emergency healthcare group — delivering advanced life support, HWSETA-accredited professional training that builds careers, and sustainable community health development through three specialised, synergistic operating companies.
Whether you need emergency response, training, community health support or partnership — we are ready.
Afromed.life is the strategic holding company that unites three specialised operating entities to deliver end-to-end emergency healthcare solutions across KwaZulu-Natal. Established in 2012 and headquartered in Durban's Avoca Hills, we combine 24/7 advanced life support operations, HWSETA-accredited professional training, and targeted community development under one values-driven group.
Our integrated model creates powerful synergies that standalone organisations cannot replicate. Graduates from our College move directly into operational roles within EMS and community programmes, while on-the-ground intelligence from our Development arm informs proactive emergency deployment and preventive health initiatives. This closed-loop approach delivers better clinical outcomes, stronger local capacity, and sustainable youth employment pathways.
To deliver integrated, high-quality emergency medical care, build professional healthcare capacity through accredited training, and drive sustainable community health development across KwaZulu-Natal — leaving no community behind.
A KwaZulu-Natal where every community has rapid access to life-saving care, skilled local responders, and proactive health support. A province where young people see healthcare as a viable, dignified career and communities are active partners in their own wellbeing.
Sthembiso Emmanuel Ngubo and Nelisiwe Gloria Ngcobo established Afromed in 2012 with a clear purpose: to combine world-class clinical standards with deep community roots and a commitment to developing the next generation of KZN healthcare professionals.
Our three pillars do not operate in silos. They reinforce each other to create a virtuous cycle of training, response, community trust and employment.
College graduates are fast-tracked into EMS roles. They arrive with simulation-trained skills, local knowledge and a values alignment that accelerates team integration and maintains consistently high clinical standards across our fleet.
Development teams identify emerging health needs in townships and rural areas. This intelligence enables proactive EMS deployment, preventive education programmes and targeted medical camps that reduce emergency burden over time.
Centralised purchasing for medical equipment, vehicles, training supplies and consumables reduces costs while ensuring uniform high-quality standards group-wide. Knowledge and protocols are shared seamlessly.
Young people trained through the College gain direct employment pathways in EMS, community health projects and training facilitation. This breaks cycles of unemployment while building sustainable local clinical capacity and leadership.
Each company operates with deep expertise while benefiting from centralised strategy, shared resources, talent pipelines and brand strength under the Afromed.life holding company.

We operate a modern fleet of 17 specialised vehicles and maintain full membership with the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).
Founded in 2012 by Sthembiso Emmanuel Ngubo and Nelisiwe Gloria Ngcobo — two young Black social entrepreneurs and professional colleagues with over 18 years combined critical care ambulance experience — Afromed EMS has grown into one of KwaZulu-Natal's most respected private emergency medical service providers.
We operate from two strategic bases: our primary Avoca Hills headquarters serving the greater eThekwini Metro and surrounding areas 24/7, and our Manguzi branch providing critical coverage for the uMkhanyakude District and northern KZN border regions.
Established in 2016, Afromed Emergency College is a fully HWSETA-accredited training provider equipping individuals with vital life-saving and safety skills through hands-on, simulation-based programmes. Our facilitators are practising emergency medical professionals and health inspectors with deep field experience.
We bridge theoretical curriculum design with practical, high-stress scenario training. Every programme is designed to produce competent, safety-oriented practitioners who are immediately valuable in clinical, industrial, agricultural and community settings.
Afromed Development is the non-profit arm of the group, dedicated to delivering vital community health services, education and sustainable development programmes that address health disparities and build resilient communities across KwaZulu-Natal.
We currently serve communities across eThekwini Metro and northern KZN with a strong, trusted presence in:
Over 18 years combined critical care ambulance experience. Passionate social entrepreneur focused on disrupting cycles of violence through youth development, professional medical services and community upliftment across KwaZulu-Natal. Leads strategy, operations and clinical governance.

Our College is more than a training provider — it is a direct pipeline into meaningful employment within the Afromed Group and the broader healthcare sector. Every graduate receives practical, simulation-based training aligned to real operational demands.
Whether you need emergency medical support, professional training solutions, community development collaboration, strategic investment or youth employment partnerships — we are ready.
